Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: September 17-19

ROMP

It’s no secret that ROMP is going to be the place to be this weekend. Boasting one of the country’s largest bluegrass music festivals, ROMP will run Sept. 15-18 at Yellow Creek Park. ROMP is celebrating its 17th annual event with a bang this year! The 2021 lineup features some huge names in bluegrass, including Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, Robert Earl Keen, Sam Bush, The Infamous Stingdusters, Sarah Jarosz and Watchhouse, to name a few. Attendees can rock out from sun up to sun down each day at this family-friendly event, and a number of food and retail vendors will set up shop throughout the weekend as well. For first-timers, there’s no experience in the world quite like ROMP, and you don’t want to miss it. Visit Owensboro will provide a trolley for ROMP attendees from noon-midnight Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The trolley will run from ROMP, to the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, to downtown Owensboro’s two riverfront hotels, Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Owensboro/Waterfront and Holiday Inn Owensboro Riverfront. Tickets can be purchased in advance at a lower cost!

Pigtails & Cowlicks

This two-day event will feature over 500 families selling new or gently used children’s items at major discounts. In fact, these high-quality items will save shoppers 50-90% off retail prices for the best in boutique and brand-name items. The sale will take place September 17 and 18 at the Owensboro Convention Center. This is one of the city’s biggest shopping events of the year, and you deserve to treat yourself to a shopping trip! VIP, Early Bird and New Parent Presale tickets can be purchased ahead of time here.

Sips & Sunflowers

It’s hard to name a better combo than adult beverages and sunflowers. And that’s exactly what Trunnell’s Farm Market thought when they created Sips & Sunflowers, running each Friday evening through the month of September at the business’s Utica location. On September 10, 17 and 24, you can spend the evening sipping wine, beer or your favorite cocktail amidst Trunnell’s gorgeous sunflower fields. And these aren’t your ordinary sunflower fields either. You can enjoy over one million sunflower blooms in every color imaginable at Trunnell’s this year! The venue will provide wagon rides from the farm market to the sunflower fields, where you can spend the evening eating delicious food, sipping your favorite drink and listening to live music. The event runs from 5:30-10 p.m.
