Owensboro Hydrofair

The Owensboro HydroFair returns to Owensboro on Friday, August 20, through Sunday, August 22. The races are bigger and better than ever this year, with more than 60 teams traveling from the US and Canada to compete. 2021 marks the first year the Owensboro Hydrofair has been designated to host the North American Championships for the American Powerboat Association. This means bigger turnout and even greater competition!

The 60 hydroplane teams are separated into seven classes in which they will compete for the titles. These boats are fast, powerful, and loud, reaching up to 170 MPH and spraying water high into the air as they rip through the river. The race course will be an oval-shaped track of 1.25 miles beginning and ending in front of the Owensboro Convention Center, and drivers will cycle the track four times.

Attending is free and seating can be found throughout Smothers Park and along the downtown riverfront, just bring your own blankets or chairs. Reserved seating will be available to purchase at the start/finish line near the Owensboro Convention Center. The levels to the reserved seating tickets reflect the level of amenities, including food and drink, banquet tables, shade, and access to indoor restrooms.  Purchase tickets for reserved seating here

The event will start on Friday, August 20, with testing from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The qualifying races begin on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The culmination of the weekend – the Championship Races– will take place on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Just added is the Lights On The Ohio, a fireworks and bridge light show starting at 8:15 p.m. on August 21.  Grab a seat along the Ohio River and celebrate a wonderful day of racing!
