Christmas in July

Covid-19 might’ve postponed the Christmas celebrations in Owensboro last year, but Friday After 5 is here to bring the holiday spirit back to you this summer. Bring the whole family and experience your own winter wonderland on Friday, July 16 from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The annual Christmas tree will be put up, and garland and other festive decorations will be put up throughout downtown Owensboro. Participate in Christmas crafts and meet Santa Claus and his elves at the Mcconnell Plaza. You might even find the Grinch! Every venue along the “Mile of Music” will be Christmas themed, and every artist and band will perform at least one Christmas song. Owensboro Dance Theater will perform pieces from The Nutcracker throughout the night.

Christmas in July will bring a very special gift!  The new synthetic ice rink will make its downtown debut.  Yes, you read that right.  You’ll be able to ice skate on the rink made out of synthetic ice.  It will be located at the Kentucky Legend Pier overlooking the Ohio River just behind the Owensboro Convention Center.  It’s $10 to skate.  $8 if you have your own skates. The rink will be outside so this is weather dependent!  Rain, not how warm or cold it is since it’s synthetic ice.

In addition to the Christmas-themed fun, enjoy music from Haleigh Martin, Dueling Guitars, Radiotronic, Fire and Ice, Fat Box, and Glastone. You’ll hear blues, country, 80’s dance music, rock, and more at Friday After 5.

Vendors are joining in on the fun, creating Christmas-themed food, drink, and desserts for the night.

It will be a night of carols, lights, and Christmas joy all around! Click here to visit the Friday After 5 website.
