Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: June 11-13

Porchfest

Southern charm is at it’s best at Porchfest! This Saturday, June 12, watch Griffith Avenue be transformed into the grounds for a one-of-a-kind music festival! The event begins between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. while evening performances will begin between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. depending on the stage. Residents on Griffith Ave. will convert their stunning porches into “stages” and their lawns will become grounds for people to bring their own chairs to enjoy the show, or stroll freely from stage to stage. This year, Porchfest features 11 stages and more than 30 musicians and bands. Click here to see the full lineup! When you’re not enjoying the shows, make sure to check out the vendors and food trucks stationed along the street. Great food, music, and friends – what more can you ask for! Cardboard Boat Races

Whether you’re spectating or competing, the Cardboard Boat Races in Daviess County are always a hit. Enjoy the fresh air at Diamond Lake Resort on Saturday, June 12 and watch competitors take their homemade boats out to race, or rather, try not to sink. The only rule is that your boat can only be made of corrugated cardboard and duct tape– the key to staying afloat is a liberal use of that tape. Some teams get really creative, creating shields, paddles, sails, and adding decoration to their boats. Last year had a record number of competitors and attendees cheering them on. Grab a few blankets and enjoy the show!
