Western Kentucky Botanical Garden Annual Plant Sale

Spring gardening is easier than ever this year! The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden Annual Plant Sale will be an online event this year with sales beginning on Saturday, April 18 and runs through this weekend. Sale order forms are available for you online here. Now you can choose from a larger selection of plants than ever before including beautiful perennials, pollinators, annuals and succulents.  Many plants will be from WKBG and grown by local gardeners, including the Herb Society and Master Gardeners. View pictures, descriptions & plant prices as you peruse the wide variety of options to pick the perfect selection for your home. All you have to do is place your order and pay! Backyard BBQ Cookoff

There’s nothing like a good cookout when the weather starts to warm up. Even better when it’s a cookoff! This competition isn’t sanctioned, but it is the perfect way to start competitively cooking. Teams are gathering at Diamond Lake Resort on Saturday, April 24 starting at 10 a.m. to compete for the best chicken, ribs, and Boston butt! There will also be a separate contest for desserts. One thing Owensboro knows about is Bar-B-Q, so don’t miss your chance to get a taste! All of Diamond Lake’s regular attractions will be open this weekend, including three go-kart tracks, fishing, pedal boats, miniature golf, and more.

 

Kentucky 2A Baseball Championships

Batter up – the Class 2A Baseball and Softball State Championships are this Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24. Six 2A high school softball teams will be competing at Fisher Park over the weekend. Catch the softball championship game at noon on Saturday.  Eight 2A high school baseball teams will be competing at Shifley Park over the weekend.
