Kentucky Fried Pickin’ Bluegrass Jam Festival

Get out your banjos, fiddles and mandolins –– it’s almost time for the fourth annual Kentucky Fried Pickin’ Bluegrass Jam Festival.  This is a free event and it’s happening Thursday through Saturday, April 29 through May 1 at the Holiday Inn Owensboro Riverfront.

The all-night jam sessions are back! We had to skip last year’s event out of caution, but that just means that we’re readier than ever to go full-throttle.  In addition to all the music being shared  inside the lobby, hotel rooms, and hallways, there will also be an outdoor stage. Even if you’re not a musician coming to play, grab your friends and a couple lawn chairs, socially distance, and enjoy the music! We’ve all been cooped up and are itching to get out, and Kentucky Fried Pickin’ is the perfect way to have some authentic Owensboro fun.

You can also enjoy some delicious food at the Holiday Inn Owensboro Riverfront. The in-hotel restaurant, Burger Theory, will be serving “Kentucky Fried Pickin’ Wings” and a “Big Mon Burger” on two separate nights in addition to their delicious menu. “Big Mon” is a tribute to a nickname given to Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass.

The festival recreates memories in which bluegrass musicians from all over the United States would play in the Executive Inn in Owensboro during their stay for the International Bluegrass Music Association Festival.  Musicians would gather all over the hotel each night after the festival concluded to jam and visit with each other!  Now, that idea is brought back to life every year as bluegrass lovers from states as far as California and Colorado come together in Owensboro to make memories. This year may be different, but buzz has already been generated from attendees across the country.

Whether you’re a seasoned musician or just a fan of good music, it’s a finger pickin’ good time you don’t want to miss out on!
