Celebrate the Holidays In Owensboro

The Holidays may look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of ways to celebrate them even living in this COVID world.  Here’s a few of our favorite traditions to ring in the Christmas spirit.

Get A Real Tree

Head on out for a visit to our friends at Trunnell’s Farm Market and Family Fun Acre and pick out a freshly cut Christmas tree.  Choose from Balsam Fir, Canaan Fir, Corkbark Fir, Concolor Fir, & Fraser Fir.  Trunnell’s is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and Noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Safe at Home For The Holidays

Turn on your tv and settle in for the Owensboro Symphony’s Christmas concert which is airing on KET on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m.  This one-of-a-kind holiday celebration will feature Troy Quinn, the Owensboro Symphony, and special guest vocalist, Michael Preacely. The program will include selections from the NutcrackerThe Grinch, and more.

Holiday Stroll

Bring your family downtown on Saturday, December 5 for the 13th annual Holiday Stroll.  Owensboro’s largest Christmas tree will be lit at 5 p.m. in Smothers Park.  You can also watch the lighting on the city of Owensboro’s Facebook page.  Check out all of the ice sculptures around downtown and participate in the Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt.  Don’t forget to check out the incredible boutiques downtown all decorated for Christmas.  Grab a drink and meal to go from one of Owensboro’s locally owned restaurants and bars.

Holiday In The Park

Take a walk through Legion Park to admire all the lights!  With more than 50 structures and over 200,000 bulbs, these lights are sure to fill you with joy!  Catch the dancing trees, toys, and Santa’s sleigh at no cost!  This is the 35th year for Holiday in the park.  Dress warm and don’t forget the hot cocoa!

Christmas at Panther Creek

This incredible drive through Christmas light experience takes place at Panther Creek Park at 5160 Wayne Bridge Road.  It’s $5 per vehicle to wind your way though over 400,000 lights.  It runs from 6-9 p.m. every night.
