Four Romantic Date Nights In Owensboro

COVID-19 has certainly changed our lives.  But, it doesn’t have to change the way we feel about each other.  Most people are itching to do something and for couples, really needing that time out of the house together.  Here are four ideas for a date night to enjoy during our new normal.

Bourbon Bouncing

Start the afternoon taking a tour of O.Z. Tyler Distillery at 2 p.m.  Your tour will be in a small group and masks are required when not enjoying the nation’s national spirit.  Make sure you pre-register for your tour online at oztylerdistillery.com.

Next, hit up Lure Seafood and Grill for the best bourbon cocktails in the city.  Indulge in the beautiful views of the Ohio River while sipping a Kentucky summer on the patio.

Just a short drive away is southern cuisine at its finest at The Miller House.  This local restaurant features a massive patio.  If you’re lucky, grab a seat on their wrap around porch. The Miller House has one of the largest bourbon collections in the country, so the choice is truly yours.

Country Cruising

Agriculture is king in Owensboro and agritourism is a great way to enjoy your significant other. Start the day at Reid’s Orchard. Depending on the time of year, you can pick your own fruit.  This includes apples and strawberries just to name a few options.

Take a beautiful drive to the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden where you’ll find a walking path that will remind you of the yellow brick road from The Wizard of Oz.  Smell the flowers and take selfies in the different gardens.

Finish the day at Trunnels soaking in the sunset and grabbing a meal to go.

Craft Beer Craving

Check out Kentucky’s newest craft brewery at The Brew Bridge.  Taste a local brew and take a tour of this unique venue.  Enjoy one of the coolest courtyard patios in the state.

Head on over to The Pub on Second.  Grab a seat on their sidewalk and ponder the massive selection of beer they offer.

When you get hungry, head across the street to Mellow Mushroom to get your pizza fix and a night cap beer.

Fantastic Food Finding

Smell the local bread and pastries being baked at Niko’s Bakery.  Pick a couple of treats out like a traditional chocolate croissant or lemon blueberry cruffin.  It pairs great with one of their locally roasted coffees.

Stroll downtown through Smothers Park to Colbys for lunch.  It’s a local’s favorite and features a large menu ranging from salmon blts to prime rib.

Reserve a seat at The Famous Bistro for an unforgettable meal on their sidewalk seating.  After one of the best dinners you’ll ever have, finish the night at Sip, a romantic wine bar offering the best of what wine has to offer.
