Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: February 28- March 1

Owensboro will host the 2020 Kentucky Scholastic 3D Archery State Indoor Championship at the Owensboro Convention Center on Friday, February 28 through Sunday, March 1.  Over 500 archers from across the state of Kentucky will compete for the state championship in their division and class.  The public is encouraged to come to this event and cheer on competitors as they compete in one of the fastest growing sports!

 

Supporting Heroes Tribute Gala

The Heroes Tribute Gala celebrates heroes and the families of heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty at the Owensboro Convention Center on Saturday, February 29 at 6 p.m.  An informal reception will begin at 4 p.m. just outside the Gala Hall. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and your favorite beverages as you explore the Silent Auction items with friends.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  The formal program begins promptly at 6 p.m. with a very moving tribute to all fallen public safety heroes whose family members are present – including a special tribute to all who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri in 2019.  Dinner follows immediately.  Whether you work in public safety, are the survivor of a fallen hero, or simply appreciate the service and sacrifice of heroes, this is sure to be a moving event! Owensboro Art Guild 58th Juried Exhibit

Artists from Kentucky and surrounding states will compete for more than $3,500 in Purchase and Merit Awards at the Owensboro Art Guild’s 58th Annual Juried Exhibition, hosted at the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, February 29 to April 24.  An opening reception and award presentation is scheduled at the museum, Saturday, February 29, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  For reservations call OMFA 270-685-3181 or [email protected] 

 

Additional public events planned at the museum in conjunction with this exhibition include DEMO DAY, Sunday, March 15, an afternoon of demonstrations and talks by selected artists juried into the exhibition. ARTBREAK, a March 31 – April 3 art camp for children ages 6 to 16 is scheduled to coincide with Spring Break and will be led by artists featured in the exhibition.

 

The exhibit will be open during regular museum hours: Tuesday through Friday, 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 1 p.m. -4 p.m.  Admission is FREE with voluntary donations suggested, $3 adults and $2 for children under 12 years of age.
