The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra’s fifty-fourth season, filled with both classical and contemporary favorites, begins at the end of this month.
On Saturday, October 26 at 7 p.m., the Owensboro Symphony returns for an epic Opening Night of great music in the RiverPark Center’s Cannon Hall. The performance features selections from Sparticus, Ben-Hur, and the popular television show Game of Thrones! Let the music transport you to distant lands as you enjoy Respighi’s rarely played “Fountains of Rome” and experience his sonic masterpiece “Pines of Rome”. It’s sure to be a magical night full of passion and fun!
The season continues with q special holiday show on December 14. Join in on the Christmas cheer with works from The Nutcracker, The Polar Express, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and participate in a special moment as the audience joins the choir to sign along to holiday classics.
On February 1, enjoy a dashing and dangerous performance of your favorite music from Bond… James Bond. Hold onto your seat as you listen to some of the best cinematic music ever written including Goldfinger, Skyfall, and For Your Eyes Only.
The next installment features a special tribute to one of the greatest performers of all time, Elton John on March 7! Grammy and Tony nominated vocalist and pianist Michael Cavanaugh and his dynamic band will reunite with the Owensboro Symphony for this exciting night.
Troy Quinn will conclude his third season with the symphony with a night full of soothing and soulful works. The 2019 season finale takes place on April 18 and highlights renowned soloists and breathtaking works including Massenet’s opera Thaïs and Vaughan Williams stirring choral work Dona Nobis Pacem. It will be a night to remember, the perfect finish to the season.
Individuals interested in purchasing season tickets to all five concerts in the Symphony’s Subscription Series can do so now through October 25 and receive up to 25 percent off the price one would have to pay to purchase a single ticket to every concert! Benefits to season subscribers include the ability to purchase additional single tickets for any concert of the season for only $30 each. Subscribers also receive concert reminders, special offers and event invitations and can also release their seats prior to a concert and receive a tax donation receipt for that contribution.
