2019 Owensboro Air Show

All eyes will be on the skies over the Ohio River this weekend for the 2019 Owensboro Air Show!  Don’t miss your chance to get up close and personal to a wide range of military and civilian aircraft on static display.  Friday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. is your chance to meet some of the pilots of these aircraft and experience a taste of the Owensboro Air Show.  Admission to Friday’s events is $5 per person.  Kids 10 and under can watch for free!  On Saturday and Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., catch performances showcasing vintage warbirds, parachute and aerobatic demonstrations, and military jets!  Admission on Saturday and Sunday is free for all– don’t miss out!  Click here for all the details. Downtown ROMP

The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum announces the first Downtown ROMP, taking place on its outdoor stage on Saturday, September 14th.  Celebrate after the Owensboro Air Show with the Downtown ROMP Air Show After Party featuring four past ROMP Festival alums:  Dustbowl Revival, Scythian, Rumpke Mountain Boys, and Hogslop String Band.  Beginning at noon on September 14th, ticket holders have access to lawn seating in the outdoor stage space to take in the sights and sounds of the air show.  At the conclusion of the air show, music begins on the outdoor stage and continues into the evening.  Food vendors, outdoor bar stations, and concessions are available throughout the event.  The movie Top Gun also runs continuously during the air show in the Hall of Fame’s theatre for ticket holders to take in the high-flying classic starring Tom Cruise.  Lawn seating tickets (bring your own chairs) are $15 each for the full day including air show viewing, movie, and concert.  Click here to purchase your tickets and for more information about VIP.

 

Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Celebration

On September 12-15, the Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Celebration will return to the Monroe Family Homeplace, high on top of Jerusalem Ridge.  The Bill Monroe Foundation is hosting the festival in the natural amphitheater at the site where Bill Monroe, the “Father of Bluegrass”, was raised.  The festival will feature mostly traditional bluegrass with contemporary bluegrass mixed in.  Music begins at 3 p.m. on Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday through Sunday.  Bring your camper, tent, and lawn chairs and prepare for a weekend filled with music, fun and friends on the ridge!  Ticket prices vary.  Click here for more info and a complete lineup schedule!
