Bluegrass Takes Flight

Friday through Sunday, September 13-15, all eyes will be on the skies over the Ohio River for the 2019 Owensboro Air Show!   And the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum will cap off Saturday night with downtown ROMP!

Don’t miss your chance to get up close and personal to a wide range of military and civilian aircraft on static display.  Friday from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. is your chance to meet some of the pilots of these aircraft and experience a taste of the Owensboro Air Show.  As the sun begins to set, several performers will take to the sky with an evening spectacle of nighttime air show performances.  Admission to Friday’s events is $5 per person.  Kids 10 and under can watch for free!

On Saturday and Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., catch performances showcasing vintage warbirds, parachute and aerobatic demonstrations, and military jets!  Admission on Saturday and Sunday is free for all– don’t miss out!

Bring chairs and blankets or find seating in McConnell Plaza and Smothers Park to enjoy the show!  If you’re looking to find the best seats in the house, reserved seating is available at the Owensboro Convention Center in a range of levels. Only a limited number of tickets are still available, so grab yours while you can!  The Bulleit Bourbon Hangar Bar Tent – a new addition to 2019 – will be available on the Convention Center loading dock featuring cocktails, games, and a great view.  Click here to view reserved seating at the Owensboro Convention Center.

Back by popular demand, the Army Aviation Heritage Sky Soldiers will be bringing their AH-1 Cobra and UH-1 Huey helicopters to the 2019 show offering paid rides on a first-come-first-serve basis at the Owensboro Regional Airport!

In conjunction with activities during the Owensboro Air Show, the Downtown ROMP Air Show After Party features four past ROMP Festival alums:  Dustbowl Revival, Scythian, Rumpke Mountain Boys, and Hogslop String Band.

Beginning at noon on September 14th, ticket holders have access to lawn seating in the outdoor stage space to take in the sights and sounds of the air show.  At the conclusion of the air show, music begins on the outdoor stage and continues into the evening.  Food vendors, outdoor bar stations, and concessions are available throughout the event.  The movie Top Gun also runs continuously during the air show in the Hall of Fame’s theatre for ticket holders to take in the high-flying classic starring Tom Cruise.

A VIP experience is also available.  VIP ticket holders have access to the third floor Independence Bank Event Room, which features expansive views of the riverfront with a large balcony space.  A catered meal and hors d’oeuvres are included with the VIP option.  Group rates for VIP tickets are available via corporate sponsorship.  For more information about sponsorship, please call 270-926-7891.
