State Young Professionals will meet in Owensboro

Owensboro’s Chamber Young Professionals will host the state’s seventh annual YP Unite Summit in November.

“We don’t know the details yet, but it’s great they selected Owensboro,” Dave Kirk, former CYP chairman, said Friday. “It’s such an awesome opportunity to show off what we’ve got going and why we were named a top city millennials are moving to.”

A news release says that YP Unite Summit is a regional leadership conference “focused on developing young professionals and young professional organizations.”

It connects young professionals to “promote collaboration, best practices, networking and leadership development.”

The summits began in Louisville in 2013.

They have been held there, Cincinnati and Paducah in the past.

“After attending the conference over the last three years, we could not be more thrilled for Chamber Young Professionals to have the honor to host the 2019 YP Summit in Owensboro,” Jessica Kirk, chamber talent programs manager, said in a news release. “We look forward to working with community partners to make this a must-attend event for young professionals across the commonwealth and surrounding region.”

Ann Marie Maldini, executive director of Young Professionals Association of Louisville, said the committee that selected the site of the 2019 summit “was very impressed with Owensboro’s proposal to host the event.”

Chamber Young Professionals is an organization for professionals 40 years and younger to “network and educate themselves on important issues facing the Greater Owensboro area.”
