Top 3 Things to Do in Owensboro This Weekend: Nov. 16-18

Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder Concert

For two special night, Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17, you can see the newest member of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, Ricky Skaggs, live!  By age 21, he was already considered a “recognized master” of one of America’s most demanding art forms, but his career took him in other directions, catapulting him to popularity and success in the mainstream of country music.  Ricky Skagg’s life’s path has taken him to various musical genres, from where it all began in bluegrass music, to striking out on new musical journeys, while still leaving his musical roots intact.  Come celebrate a lifetime of music! Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. both nights. Click here for ticket information.

2018 Christmas Parade

The 2018 Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is Saturday, November 17 at 4:30 p.m.!  The public is invited to join the annual celebration the Saturday after Thanksgiving in downtown Owensboro, “where Kentucky starts Christmas.”  The theme for this year’s Christmas parade is “Our Christmas Wish” with an expected 120 floats and other entries, making it the first and largest Christmas parade in the tristate area. Vendors, Christmas floats, music and even Santa Claus will be in attendance for the big event!  Welcome in the season with smiles, laughs, fond memories and, of course, Christmas spirit!

Kentucky Storytelling Conference

Are you a fan of a good story?  You’re in luck!  The Kentucky Storytelling Conference is Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17.  Events at the conference include storytelling slams, open mic nights, or storytelling workshops!  The featured storyteller for 2018 Is Terry Collins.  A professional storyteller for the past 30 years, he has continued to share stories and folktales that carry you back in time to a simpler, less complicated place.  Both Friday and Saturday are jam-packed days of events from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. For a complete schedule of events, click here!
