Black in Blue Dinner & a Movie with Walk-of-Fame Induction

Houston Hogg will be inducted into Owensboro’s Walk-of-Fame as part of the weekend festivities.  The induction will be held on Friday, July 27 at 7:45 p.m. at the Jagoe Homes Patio to honor Houston Hogg and his wife’s foster parenting of more than 200 children and to honor him and his UK teammates.  Funds raised will benefit the Foundation for Daviess County Public Schools’ efforts to remove barriers within education and provide educational enhancements for students through the Houston Hogg Youth Fund.

Black in Blue Dinner & A Movie is an exciting event hosted by the RiverPark Center on Saturday, July 28. Black in Blue is a documentary telling the stories of the four men (Wilbur Hackett, Nate Northington, Greg Page and Owensboro’s Houston Hogg) who broke the race barrier at the University of Kentucky and in the Southeastern Conference.  Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at 7:30 p.m.  Click here for VIP and additional ticket information.

 

RiverArtes III: A Showcase of Public Art

The Owensboro Museum of Fine Art is hosting RiverArtes III Preview Gala on Friday, July 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.   Opening its third showcase, RiverArtes III will acquire a collection of important public art for the City of Owensboro and further establish it as a cultural tourism destination.  This is an exciting biennial exhibition of public art by sculptors of international, national and regional prominence designed to celebrate the vitality of Owensboro.

 

Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market

Owensboro Health will bring together food, art and health by hosting a fair between 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday at the Owensboro Regional Farmers’ Market. The event features healthy cooking demonstrations, blood pressure and pre-diabetes screenings, ballroom dancing, fitness screenings, music and more. Enjoy live performances by Owensboro Dance Theatre and local musician Randy Lanham as you shop for your usual local goodies–fresh produce, fresh baked goods, fresh flowers, homemade soaps and lotions, jams and jellies, and more.  Try your hand at bicycle blending your own smoothie, navigating an obstacle course, and other fun activities at the event curtesy of Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Workshop of Owensboro and Owensboro Art Guild.  There’s so much to do­– don’t miss out!
