PorchFest OBKY 2018

Experience southern charm at its best with this new, unique event coming to Owensboro!  Porch Fests are popping up across the nation, and Owensboro is joining the trend.  On June 9, the Griffith Avenue area between Frederica Street and Robin Road will be transformed into the grounds for a music festival!

Porch Fests are organized by the community as a way to reconnect with neighbors and create good times.  Residents on Griffith Avenue have agreed to be “Porch Hosts” and convert their beautiful, spacious porches into “stages” for the afternoon.  Their inviting front yards will be open for music listeners to bring their own chairs and sit and enjoy the show.  The audience can also stroll freely from “stage” to “stage”, enjoying great musical talent without worrying about a ticket or a seat.

Owensboro, KY and the Tri-State region is home to some of the most accomplished musicians from guitarists, percussionists, violinists and more to songwriters and talented vocalists. We will hear original music as well as interpretations of releases from other artists.  A few of the current performers include local artist Lacy Jean, Nashville-based, alt-rock band Sleep for the Weary, and international touring artist Cynthia Murray.

In addition to all of the amazing music, several vendors and food trucks will be stationed on Griffith Ave. including Gene’s Health Foods and Tri-R-Tips BBQ.  Bring your walking shoes, lawn chairs, and appreciation for great food, music, and friends!

This event is free and suitable for all ages. Come and celebrate music and community togetherness!
