Visit Owensboro partners with Kentucky Wesleyan College to promote Owensboro as a sports destination

The Owensboro-Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau has committed to a $20,000 investment in collaboration with Kentucky Wesleyan College athletics.  The investment will allow KWC to pursue major athletic events in compliance with the American Disabilities Act.

“This investment puts KWC in an adequate position to attract new sporting events such as NCAA baseball and softball, 3rd Region tournament, 9th District tournament and other high school competitions. This will not only greatly benefit the college, but the community as a whole,” said Brad Moore, KWC Associate Athletics Director.  “We are truly grateful for the investment from the CVB as we are committed alongside them to attract more events to Owensboro.”

The CVB is dedicated to following its mission statement to strengthen the community as a leisure, convention and sports destination.  By upgrading the existing baseball and softball facilities, KWC can accommodate these larger sporting events that will generate revenue for Owensboro’s hotels, restaurants and businesses.

“We are excited about this collaboration with KWC, especially President Bart Darrell and his team. With these facility updates we are expecting to book new events that will bring a substantial economic impact to Owensboro,” said Mark Calitri, President and CEO of Visit Owensboro.
