Kentucky Fried Pickin’ Bluegrass Jam Festival

Get out your banjos, fiddles and mandolins and spring into the Kentucky Fried Pickin’ End of Winter Indoor Hotel Bluegrass Jam Festival (KFP) on March 16 and 17 at the Holiday Inn Owensboro Riverfront.  Nothing is better than grabbing your instrument and picking with your friends.

The festival brings back the memories in which bluegrass musicians from all over the United States would play in the Executive Inn in Owensboro during their stay for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IMBA) Festival when it was originally held in Owensboro.  Musicians would gather all over the hotel each night after the festival concluded to jam and visit with each other.

That memory is recreated with KFP.  The event is free so come on down, check out the beautiful Holiday Inn on the Owensboro riverfront, and dine and drink at their new restaurant, Burger Theory.   Last year’s KFP turned out to be a great jamming event with pickers from seven different states in attendance.

Just down the street from the festival is the International Bluegrass Music Museum which will host Bluegrass Jam Camp taught by Dave Howard of the 23 String Band using the Wernick Method.  Camp is March 16 from 2-6 p.m., March 17 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 18 from 10-2 p.m.  Tuition is $260.  The camp and festival go hand and hand.
