Happy New Year! It’s a must that you start 2018 on the right foot by exploring Owensboro this first weekend of January. Here are three different ways to enjoy yourself in this chilly weather.
1. First Saturdays for Kids at the Western Kentucky Botanical Gardens
A perfect weekend activity for families with young children (ages 5-11)! Come explore the gardens, then warm up in the classroom while learning about all the beautiful nature surrounding us, even during the winter! The event is from 10 a.m. to Noon, free for members and their friends and family. It’s only $1 for non-members.
- Explore the Owensboro Museum of Science and History
Spend a day learning about Owensboro, its rich history, and so much more at the local science and history museum! Visit one of the five permanent exhibits including the interactive Coal Mine Gallery, the Playzeum (indoor playground for the kids to burn off energy? Yes please!) and Encounter, and the SpeedZeum dedicated to Owensboro’s successful racing history. Admission to the museum is only $5 per person, children 2 and under enter for free.
- Watch the National Championship at Legends Sports Bar & Grill
What better way to watch the big game than at the newest sports bar in town? Legends features over 20 widescreen TVs, including the largest TV in Owensboro! Enjoy over 40 beers on tap along with your favorite bar foods as you cheer on your team! #RollTide or #GoDawgs?
