The 1st Annual Girls Aviation and Aerospace Day is developed to create awareness of the opportunity young women have in aviation and to inspire young women to pursue their aviation dreams. On September 30 young women ages 7-16 can participate in this event at the Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport from 9am-1pm. This event is in affiliated with the Ninety Nines Organization for Women Pilots – Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter.

This great event is $15 per girl and includes materials, a t-shirt, goodie bag and a pizza lunch. The girls will also have the chance to earn a scholarship to pursue their dream in aviation. During this event the girls will learn many things about Aviation and Aerospace including the four points below.

 

  1. Girls will be able to learn about the history of women in Aviation and Aerospace and how these women paved the way for other women pilots.Aviation History
  2. The girls will be given the opportunity to tour an amazing collection of aircraft as well as get in them and learn more about them.
  3. Girl Scout Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, and Seniors will be able to earn their aviation badge at this event. I have been told there are not many opportunities in this area to earn this badge. Aviation Badge
  4. Girls will be given the chance to learn about some of the schools participating in early aviation learning in middle and high school. They will also be taught about the different career paths girls have in aviation.
