Welcome to Owensboro

Visit Owensboro welcomes this weekend’s Baseball Players Association World Series here in Owensboro.

According to Mark Calitri, Visit Owensboro’s president, the event has drawn visitors from all across the State of Kentucky and will produce a nearly half million dollar economic impact to Owensboro and Daviess County.

“Over 500 athletes will be competing at Owensboro’s Fisher Park this weekend,” said Jared Bratcher, Visit Owensboro’s Director of Sports. Bratcher added that this is one of the most important baseball tournaments of the season with athletes from such a large geographic area.

Tommy and Earl HaydenOne team chose to recognize Moto GP World Champion Nicky Hayden of Owensboro by placing his racing number 69 on their helmets. Hayden died earlier this year when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a car in Italy.

“I was pleased to see this recognition for such an accomplished local professional athlete from these young athletes at the beginning of their sports careers,” said Bratcher.
