Owensboro’s October filled with family fun and entertainment

OWENSBORO, Ky. (Sept. 22, 2015) — Fall is in the air and the place to be is Owensboro for a month of outdoor festivals, family entertainment and activities that celebrate the new season.

 

Here is a list of popular weekend events scheduled for the Owensboro area during October.

 

OCCTtoberfest (Oct. 3, 4 p.m.-Midnight): Bands, brats and beer are on tap for a classic German Octoberfest celebration at the Owensboro Convention Center. Live entertainment begins at 4 p.m., with bands playing until midnight. Admission is $6 with food and beverages available separately. Owensborocenter.com

 

Reid’s Orchard Apple Festival (Oct. 17-18, Noon-6 p.m.): The fruit orchard’s annual fall event features 20 food vendors and 90 arts and crafts vendors selling seasonal merchandise. 4818 state Route 144, Owensboro. Reidorchard.com

Octoberfest (Oct. 3, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Oct. 4, Noon-6 p.m.): Kid friendly event features traditional attractions like a corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin painting and sculpting and lots of seasonal food. Farm equipment and the farm animal-petting yard add to the harvest environment.

 

The Great Pumpkin Fest (Oct. 10, 11 a.m.-6 p.m, Oct. 11, Noon-6 p.m.): The weekend celebrates the fruit of fall with pumpkin games. Those include bowling, sculpting, toss, face painting and even a checker game. Pumpkin foods and beverages of all kinds will be available.

 

Moonlit Harvest Fest & Flashlight Night (Oct. 17, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.): Spend the day enjoying the farm activities and stay through the evening for after-dark fun. The nighttime entertainment offers an interactive corn maze and glow-in-the-dark pumpkin hunt. Private campfire sites are available.

 

Harvest Fest (Oct. 18, Noon-6 p.m.): Live music and farm fun for the entire family. Pumpkin Princess Story Time, wagon rides, scarecrow making and pumpkin activities.

 

Halloween Bash (Oct. 31, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Nov. 1, Noon-6 p.m.): Have brunch with a witch and costumed characters, take a wagon ride through the pumpkin patch and wear trick-or-treat costumes in the Halloween Parade.
